Drug Take Back Day Is October 27

The Lake Charles Police Department is holding an event to take back unwanted prescription drugs at the Lake Charles Civic Center on October 27.

The event will be held on the southside of the parking lot from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This is the sixteenth opportunity in nine years for people in the community to rid their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, but they are accepting all pills. The service and free, and it is anonymous.

This provides an opportunity for those who have legally or illegally procured prescription drugs to turn them in, no questions asked.

Last year, Americans turned over 475 tons of prescription drugs at more than 6,000 sites operated by the DEA.
