Be Careful What You Post On Social Media
Be Careful What You Post On Social Media
It may seem like only your closest friends are looking at what you post on social media, but that isn’t always the case, especially if you’re a suspect in a crime.
Here are a few stories of people who were arrested for what they posted on social media.
– Maxwell Marion Morton was charged with first-degree murder after he posted a photo of himself and his victim on Snapchat and one of his friends took a screenshot.
– Maxi Sopo fled Seattle after he was charged with bank fraud. He bragged about it on Facebook, and one of his friends with a former justice department official. Sopo was arrested and sent back to the U.S.
– Jacob Cox-Brown posted “Drivin drunk… classic 😉 but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. :p.” on his Facebook page. One of his friends reported it to the police, who were able to match his car to an unresolved hit and run.
While social media has certainly been used to track down people who have committed crimes, it has also lead to the arrests of people who believed what they were posting were pranks. The lesson here is to always be careful about what you post on social media, or you could end up in jail.
