Louisiana Woman Pleads Guilty To Stealing $1.5 Million
A Louisiana woman has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $1.5 million from a Broussard oilfield related company.
In a news release, U.S. Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook said that 54-year-old Susan M. Benoit of Lafayette, Louisiana entered the plea Thursday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Hanna.
Benoit pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud.
The plea will not become final until it is accepted by U.S. District Judge Dee D. Drell.
Benoit worked for the company form 1998 to 2016 as the accountant, and later as the chief financial officer. She had access to the company’s bank accounts and transferred almost $1.5 million to her personal bank account.
She faces up to 20 years in prison, restitution, forfeiture, and a potential $250,000 fine.
